Wivenwho May Fair by Damien Bell Poet and aspiring musician Mervin Mule decides to revive the tradition of the Wivenhoe May Fair, in which the quaint, sleepy village becomes a centre for free rock and inevitable debauchery. With fellow poet Dr Don Fletcher Park at his side and running the spoken word tent, how could it possibly go wrong?
Come one, come all to the May Fair, a veritable "Who's that?" of local bands and spoken word artistes. Mervin is bravely running the show and envisages a wonderful, welcoming, weekend Wivenhoe Woodstock, with Donny lending an unwilling hand. But with the sun already well over the yard arm, a field full of drunken city teenagers, students, hippies, bikers, outraged local poets, a lot of very dodgy music, and with the gods yet to be appeased, can calamity be far away?
Recorded before an audience at Colchester Arts Centre on 16th September 2025.
